The 2022 Contemplative Practices for Higher Education (CPHE) Conference will be the ninth year that a variety of contemplative practitioners have come together to share the good work they have accomplished within their respected fields. This gathering is sponsored by the Mid-Atlantic Contemplative Higher Education Alliance for Research, Teaching and Services (C-HEARTS). The intention of this conference is to foster and encourage the integration and sustainability of contemplative practices into our professional lives: in the classroom, in the research laboratory, in the office, in healthcare, in the arts, and in the workplace.
The conference will be held in person March 3-5, 2022, hosted by Mount Saint Mary’s University (16300 Old Emmitsburg Road, Emmitsburg, Maryland). Please see more about COVID concerns, below. We remain committed to offering an in-person, embodied gathering to build community, deepen our personal practice, and explore applications of CP together.
Early Bird Registration is open: $250 for professionals; $75 for students, with additional fees applying for addition of one or both Pre-Conference Workshops as well as the optional Saturday half-day Retreat. Further details about this year’s offerings and keynote talks are below as well as on our website.

GATHERING IN THE TIME OF COVID
The CPHE Conference is still being offered as an in-person event, at this time. We understand that at this stage in the pandemic, potential participants may be concerned about safety, and/or restricted in their travel. For now, our operating assumption is that circumstances will maintain at current levels, or improve, in time for a March conference that would employ safety COVID protocols.
Our host institution, Mount Saint Mary’s University, will be on Spring Break at the time of our conference and thus our group will not be interacting with any large number of MSMU students or faculty. MSMU has advised us that they deem it safe for us to proceed with hosting our gathering in person.
If the pandemic situation worsens, we will offer an alternative form of participation for all accepted presenters. The specific nature of the alternative conference will be determined in March when more information is known.
In the interim, we encourage all accepted presenters and participants to register, noting that Early Bird rates apply through Feb. 4 and standard registration will continue up until the start of the conference.
If the conference is canceled and no alternative event is provided, CPHE will refund registration payments fully or provide the option to apply such payments to future events.
Thank you for your support and patience. We cherish the opportunity to gather together, despite challenging times.
